Catmint
Catmint is better known in the Netherlands as catnip (often spelled as catnip). Cats seem to have a predilection for this herb. They will always look for the plant again and when they find it they get very excited.
In humans, catnip has a relaxing effect; it is often used to promote sleep and to relieve discomfort around menstruation. It has a pleasant taste.
Effects
Catnip is a mild, relaxing hallucinogen. After drinking strong tea, it gives a pleasant relaxation, provides a slight ‘high’ and has a stimulating effect on the imagination. The taste is very good. Good for a relaxed evening to listen to quiet music or to relax after a busy day.
How to use
It is best to use about 25 grams per 1 liter of water. Let it boil and let it steep for 15 minutes. Then sieve, possibly add honey or sugar and it is ready for use. Drink a cup first and wait for the effect before taking more.
Catnip combines well with galangal, damiana and valerian.
